Accessibility

Our commitment

We’re working to make SleptOn usable for as many people as possible on web and iOS. The app is built with standard iOS controls and follows the accessibility settings on your iPhone, so it works the way the rest of your phone does.

Vision

• VoiceOver. Buttons, photos and artwork are labelled, and hints say where a control takes you, like “Opens the song” or “Opens their profile.” Like, comment and vote counts are read out, and unread Activity is marked as new.
• Spoken notices. The notices that appear at the top of the screen, when you save a song, post, or move up a chart, are read aloud by VoiceOver.
• Larger text. Text throughout the app follows the size you set in iOS Settings, up to the largest accessibility sizes, and some screens switch to a roomier layout when text is very large.
• Light and dark. SleptOn follows your iPhone’s appearance setting.

Touch and control

• Actions instead of gestures. With VoiceOver, posts have an Open post action, messages have Reply, and the + button has Name that song, so you don’t need to touch and hold it.
• The globe. Rotate and zoom the Around the world globe with VoiceOver actions. Each city facing you is a button with its name, so you can choose one to explore it.
• 3D badges. Swipe up or down to turn a badge, or use Tilt up, Tilt down and Reset rotation. VoiceOver says how far it’s turned.
• Siri and shortcuts. Say “Post what I’m listening to on SleptOn” to Siri to open the composer with your song ready, or use Shortcuts, the Action button or a Control Center control.
• Haptics. Likes, votes and selections give a tap you can feel.

Motion

• Reduce Motion. With Reduce Motion on, the album wall on the welcome screen stops drifting, hearts no longer fly when you like a post, the listening rings and loading placeholders hold still, badges appear without zooming, and notices stop animating out of the Dynamic Island.
• Recaps at your pace. Monthly recaps move on by themselves, but with VoiceOver on they wait for you. Swipe up or down to change slides.

On this website

• Reduce Motion. Pages that animate as you scroll show a still version instead.
• Screen readers. Pictures of the app are described, and icon buttons have labels.
• Light and dark. Switch with the button in the top bar.
